An illustrated blog about everything folkloric and spooky
Why I made this blog.
In August of 2024 I went on a journey to Japan. I love traditional Japanese art, aesthetic culture and folklore, and I can tell you my trip was an eye opener. This place has enamored me for as long as i can remember, and it still surpassed even my wildest expectations. I was utterly bowled over by how truly stunning it is, and how I felt more at home there than I had for the longest time in my homeland.
My return to the UK was the type of anticlimax I have never really experienced before. You hear people constantly say “[Insert destination] was amazing, but I was ready to come home.” - well I definitely was not ready. I realised I had fell out of sync with my birthplace, and if I’m honest I’ve been a bit lost ever since. So I have made it my task to reassess and rediscover what I love about the UK and, just as with Japan, one of the things I have always cherished about Britain are it’s stories: the tales recounted to me as a kid of ghosts and sprites, demons and dark woods. These stories run deep in my blood, and as you can clearly see their influence pours over into my art. So this little pocket of my website is where I am wondering ghosts.
